Our chapel, a replica of early Appalachian churches, sits in a peaceful wooded park-like setting. A steep cedar shake roof with a bell and steeple add to the quaint charm. Inside, soft light filters through the stained glass windows and door, accenting the tasteful elegance of the interior with its carriage lamps, bows, flowers and fittings. Fifty-candle candelabrum encircles the wedding party while our organist plays traditional music during the ceremony. The lovely mountain setting draws romantic couples to Mentone's mountains for their wedding and honeymoon. Many couples who choose the Mentone Wedding Chapel for their wedding do so because we offer personal, caring service before, during and after the ceremony. The convenience we offer in arranging for services such as photography, receptions, flowers, and the honeymoon is another reason couples prefer the Mentone Wedding Chapel. We also welcome second marriages and the renewal of vows. Under Alabama law, there is no waiting period for a marriage. Licenses may be obtained at any courthouse within the state and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. The cost is $45.00. Courthouses are generally open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. central time. Weddings are performed Monday through Saturday, by appointment. For your convenience, we can arrange for a minister to perform your ceremony. The minister's donation is to be no less than $100. A non-refundable $100.00 deposit is required to hold your date and time. The full balance is due the day of the wedding. We ask to be informed of cancellations at the earliest possible date, but no later than one month prior to the wedding.
